This Memorial Day weekend we will gather at parks, backyards, beaches, and lakes with friends and family to celebrate Memorial Day Weekend. Some see this weekend as the beginning of the summer season and for others it’s a long weekend. But have we lost sight of what this weekend is about? Why do we celebrate Memorial Day?

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance, a day to honor the men and women who gave everything for our country. Who fought so we could enjoy the peace and freedom we experience everyday across America. The say “Some gave some and some gave all”. Think about what you can give to show our fallen military members and their families how much their sacrifices mean to you and to our country.

Over the course of the Memorial Day weekend people will come together placing flags at gravesites, saluting our heroes at Memorial Day parades and taking part in ceremonies across the United States.

So while you are picnicking, boating, hiking, or just relaxing, take the time to stop and honor our fallen heroes. Without them we wouldn’t have this day, of remembrance.

And when you see our Veteran Military men and women standing outside of stores with red poppies, take a minute to acknowledge them and thank them. For they represent the men and women who sacrificed their lives for our country.
