Cameo Nightclub shooting lawsuit filed in Hamilton County Court

The Cameo Nightclub shooting lawsuit, filed May 25 in the Hamilton County Common Pleas Court, states that the Cameo Nightclub had prior violent incidents and issues with crime. Due to this, the Nightclub’s owner, Julian Rodgers, should have known or been aware of the security risks to plaintiffs, other patrons and his business, the complaint said. Additionally, Cameo’s owners were “aware and complicit in the creation of security risks to their business and patrons.”

The lawsuit contends that the Nightclub did not have adequate security safeguards in place and intentionally allowed multiple patrons into the nightclub without any security “pat downs” or any security protocol in exchange for a higher admission fee at a secret back entrance. The lawsuit further asserts that the Cameo Nightclub failed to implement and follow a proper security plan, failed to employ adequate security, and failed to protect nightclub patrons from “violent activity and injury.” According to the complaint, the victims incurred expenses for medical treatment, loss of property, loss of earnings and/or the loss of the ability to earn money. These losses are either permanent or continuing and the plaintiff will suffer losses in the future.
